Getting into the groove of things...

So, a schedule seems to be emerging in our household (which is good).  Breakfast usually gets underway around 7:30 and I do a few dishes while he eats, and then Xave and I have some storytime.  After that, I straighten up the rooms a bit (make the beds,  etc...).  By then, we usually try to get out of the house in some fashion - whether that's going downtown or going to the park.  11:30 or 12 is lunchtime, then naptime.  Naptime is when I try to prep dinner for the evening, and do some sort of chore around the house, and also recharge from the morning's daily trials and triumphs.  Xave then wakes up around 2:30, and we play and talk and have snack until Daddy gets home around 5:15.

I just realized...I forgot my camera card to upload pictures.  :(

Easter was nice, and we spent the holiday with my family.  (As a side note, I forgot how unbelievably painful overeating while pregnant is.)

Tomorrow my mom is going to come over and spend the day with Xavier and I, so I'm pretty excited about that.

I am slowly starting to meet people around here...but I'm sure it will take some time, just like it did in Charleston.

Xave is getting more and more talkative.  He can even sometimes answer an opened ended question, such as "What would you like to eat?" which the reply is usually "chee-yo's" or "oat-mee".  Ah...he really melts my heart when I think of how he talks.  Stuck is "guk" and Dog is "dogu" and Princess is "Pin-says!".  When he gives kisses he goes "mmmmmmmmmm" and when The Husband and I try to kiss him simultaneously, occasionally he'll shove our faces together to make us kiss each other (something he learned probably from me teaching him to have his animals kiss each other?).

We learned yesterday that he really likes hummus, and will eat it off of a spoon.  He is getting pickier about what he eats, although I personally suspect a lot of it might be a control issue?

We were also doing really well with pooping in the potty, but he's recently (like, in the last week) started a potty boycott.  I am not pressuring him about it, so hopefully this won't last...?  (Also, if you pass gas audibly in front of him, he'll look at you and point to your belly and go "poop.  poop." hahaha)

He loves "ow-saiii" (outside) and it's sometimes a battle to get him to come in after we get back from downtown or the park.  Oh well, better that he loves being outside than preferring to vegetate in front of the television?

Rain, rain, go away!

So today was super rainy, and although I managed to sign Xave and I up for Storytime at our local library, and he had a haircut appointment today, we stayed in due to the sheer amount of liquid draining from the sky.

Oh well, I rescheduled the hair cut, and there are 5 more weeks of storytime to go...plenty of chances to make it. :)

I was admittedly trying to figure out what to blog about on my walk down to the Blue Moose, when across the bridge ran a group various individuals aged 20 something to 50 something wearing various outfits from tuxedos, to dresses, to dress shirts with no pants, and also the occasional genuine running gear...let it also be known that the dresses were not limited to women and the dress shirts not limited to men. Physically, they're all runners (the physique and stance all kind of shout that they do this on a regular basis, whether or not in said garb, who knows!) and it was a very curious sight...which only reinforces how kind of...quirky Morgantown can be. It isn't scary or dangerous per say, just...a little different with it being a college town.

Anyway, in regards to my walk downtown to blog and the fact that Xave and I didn't get out today, I am going to try to make a point of getting out of the house (alone) at least once a week to blog. I really enjoy blogging, and think that I'll continue to enjoy looking back on posts I've made in the future. I ended up today back at the Blue Moose (where I was for my last post) and figure that I'll probably continue ending up here.

Oh, what else is going on...

I have found that there is a mothers group in Morgantown, called MOMs (http://www.orgsites.com/wv/momsclubmgneast/). I got in touch with a member, and hopefully we'll be doing play groups soon! The other group I found is called Buggies and Babes, which is a postpartum walking group in the city (you stroll around with your baby, hey, we know how to do that!). They are going to have a luncheon tomorrow, so hopefully the rain will hold off and we can go!

Another advantage to having moved back home is getting to go back to St. Hubert's again. We went to Mass last Sunday for the Palm Sunday service, and it was quite wonderful to be back in a parish where it felt warm and welcoming. We have to make the trek back down to Charleston this Saturday night for Easter Vigil since The Husband is a sponsor down there, but I'm looking forward to spending some Holy Week time back in our parish that feels like home...

Blessing of the Palms at the Rectory

Interestingly enough, Xave is going through a slightly shy stage, in which it'll take a good 15-20 minutes for him to warm up to people. However, he didn't forget Father Andrew! He took right back up with him...but I'm sure that it helps that we have a photo of him and Father on our fridge... :) Last Sunday, Father carried Xave around while he pointed to different Icons and said their names (Xavier can recognize Mary and Jesus, and sometimes Joseph...and he can also point to Jesus's "ouch"es...haha). It was very endearing to see.

Xavier delegating where Father Andrew should take him...lol

This is what Xavier does now when you say, "Say Cheese!"

Okay...so another blog post about a week or so from now... :)

Move, Complete! Hello, Morgantown!

Okay, so our move went well. We are still doing some unpacking, and rearranging, but so far, so good. The Husband begins his new job next week, so I'm excited to see how our daily routine falls into place.

Two thoughts I wanted to share. Currently, I am sitting at the Blue Moose Cafe, reading about investing and portfolio's. It turns out that even though WVU is still technically sort of a state employee, it's sort of different, so our retirement is no longer a regular savings account job, but it's a 401(a). The Husband has delegated me our family investor, so I'm trying to read up on what exactly all of this investing and stock managing means, and how to balance risk versus return. While I sit here, sipping my soy almond latte and reading up on model portfolios and historical returns and volatility, I am surrounded by such an eclectic group of individuals. In front of me is a group of 4 middle aged women (dressed in LOFT and RL), who are having a meeting outside of the WVU Hospital, eating their breakfast and debating MdracBook Air's and iPad's, while across the room a group of hipster girls with their long chandelier earrings and cropped bleached hair order soy latte's and pick up vegan cookies, all the while an unkempt man in a long beige trench coat and western style hat sits reading a novel eating a breakfast of fried potatoes and eggs. And then there's me, sitting here blogging on my netbook, portfolio worksheet spread on the table, and pregnant in my second trimester.

This is the Morgantown I missed.

(N0t to mention all the walking we get to do!! My calves are a little sore, but my body and mind are SO grateful!!)

There is something about the diversity
