The Weekend!

Ah, the weekend is here! My husband and I are planning on going to Phipps today, so I should (hopefully) have some nice pictures from there.

We're at the Kenyan Cafe at the moment using their wireless. I highly suggest trying it!

Baby Thoughts

I have to admit, there are a few things I wanted to document about pregnancy for future reference, and those who are/will be pregnant.

• Invest in a long handled back brush. By the time your stomach expands to the point of no longer being able to see once easily visible places on your body, you will also have to go to great lengths to reach them to wash.
  
  

• Don't freak yourself out over the occasional cup of coffee. It's not the end of the world, and it's not you being a terrible mother to your unborn baby. It's more stressful when you can't stay awake to do work and have deadlines (and therefore probably does more harm)!
  
  

• Although "studies have shown" that babies that hear music in the womb are more likely have higher IQ's, I think their causality is wrong. It's more likely that their parents were so concerned about their child's education and were wiling to be involved in cultivating their mind. I have not invested in an extra set of headphones for my expanding stomach, nor will I, as I intend to educate my children well but not be sucked into gimmicks.
  
  

• Read Amazon.com reviews, but don't get too panicked when there are conflicting opinions. Different things work for different people. Although we are all consumers, we are all individuals with different circumstances and different needs.
  
  
• Buy "What to Expect when You're Expecting" but don't read it like your favorite fiction novel - it'll just scare you. Instead, refer to it when you have a question, and stay within the realm of the current month you're in. Plopping yourself down in front of this book will do nothing but scare you since it's pretty much everything that can go wrong.

A Thanks to my Parents (and an update on the D60)

My parents have been wonderful the past two weekends. Last week they came and shampooed the carpets in the nursery as well as put together a dresser for me. This week, they came and painted Xavier's room while my fabulous husband planted Junipers for ground cover (so he doesn't have to weed whack the bank).

I am grateful to my family. Thank you so much. I love you!

In regards to the D60, I finally uploaded the first few pictures from it! Check out my Flickr account.

I'm still trying to figure out how to put thumbnails from my Flickr account in the text of my blog posts...anyone care to help out? Do I need a premium account? I'm prolly gonna invest in it anyway...

Finally catching up...

First, IT'S A BOY! I ended up having my sonogram last Wednesday (the 29th) at around 1:00pm. I had to chug a whole 32 oz. of fluid...my fancy husband managed to find an orange juice carton the exact size!!

His name will be Xavier (ex-zave-your) Thomas Bias. He was about 1lb 2oz at the time of the ultrasound. He also had to pee. (The technitian said that his bladder was full as well during the ultrasound, and that's one of the reasons we got to see so clearly that he was a boy.)

(Side note: It was only a day later that we went out and bought his first piece of clothing.)

May 3rd, my husband and I went back to Target to finish off registering. While we registered earlier in my pregnancy (right after three months), a lot of things I was either very uneducated about, or had gender connetations that I didn't want to pick out yet. I'm still overwhelmed by it all, quite honestly. I get nervous about buying (and/or registering) for baby things because I know how people get scammed when they buy computers/laptops/electronic gizmos in general and honestly don't know the difference. However, I feel above the curve in knowledge in this area, and am always (most generally) confident that I am getting the best possible deal. However, when it comes to baby gear, I feel a little lost and concerned. I'm sure this is normal for first timers, and I'm looking forward to when it doesn't feel so blindsiding.

Today, my parents were gracious enough to come over and help me get some house things in order. I have been nesting like mad although it has waned some in the past few days. My mom came and shampooed my carpets, and my dad put together a dresser that they bought for me for my birthday. My husband was awesome and remulched the landscaping - it looks great. I helped around and such, here and there...and my back is killing me for it.

*sigh* I had so much other stuff to blog about and it's just not going to happen. I can't wait to have a stable internet connection at the house again.

Very, very busy.

I think my lack of internet at home would be the death of this blog...thankfully, I will have it again around July.

Just a few quick notes:

• I am having a boy, and his name will be Xavier Thomas.
• I got my D60, and I've taken lots of photos...I will upload them soon.
• I am getting my nursery organized.
• Yesterday was my birthday. I am now 23.
• Today is the first day of my third trimester.

I am hoping to make a more lengthy and detailed post soon. Sorry for being AWOL. :(
